Here are a few posts, tweets and pings from the past couple of weeks in the call tracking-osphere. Because you don’t have enough in your feed reader already…
- TopSEOs.com published a list of “Top Call Tracking Providers“. Based on their ranking criteria, the top 3 are Ifbyphone (more), Marchex Call Analytics (more) and Mongoose Metrics (more). Pencil and paper didn’t make the list.
- “How many more leads do I need?” from the Marchex Call Analytics blog discusses quality vs. quantity of leads. If the answer really is 3, it’s no wonder our economy is so slow to recover. I wonder if we can get any stimulus money to start driving more phone leads? More leads = more business = more jobs.
- A KeyMetric (more) Google Analytics app is now included in the Google Analytics Call Tracking App Gallery, alongside offerings from other forward-thinking vendors.
- Why get on board with phone call tracking? Because Elan at Ifbyphone says so (and a lot of online marketing gurus agree). It’s good stuff.
- Mongoose Metrics published a new whitepaper on Call Tracking for Traditional Advertising. It should be titled, “Last One In Is a Rotten Egg (and out of business)”.
- RingRevenue (more) cross-polinates social media with call tracking. I thought most social media users only knew how to text. I guess they occasionally go “old school” and pick up the phone too.

Just as an fyi – the TopSEO list is not legitimate. It is a list only of those vendors that agreed to pay $1k per month to be included on the list. Total fraud. I would easily say the top 2-3 vendors are not on there due to that fact; both in revenue and product ranking. There are a ton of articles on what a total scam it really is.
Can you post some of those links here to help round out the story? Or email them to me and I can check them for accuracy and update the article if necessary.
Hi Andrew,
Here are just a few of the hundreds of links on the web about what a scam these lists are. I also have a screenshot of the application that outlines the fees for each category ranking. Really, its nothing more than a “buy your ranking” scheme based on who is willing to advertise more $. I have fought these lists for awhile now, being a large agency that has to counter the damage done. I refuse to pay for a ranking, and its my experience that the real leaders in a market refuse to pay and know its a scam. I stumbled across your blog as I was searching for phone tracking solutions and simply thought you might want to know. We are going to go with a company not on your list that seems to blow them all away, and also proved to us they much more (we had demo’d alot of companies). I can’t say how much the call trackign fees are, but in the agency category, for example, it is $1k a month with a minimum 6-month buy. Then if you spend more on advertising on TopSEO you get a higher ranking.
